Why You Should Read The Wicked Who Fight Against Zion
What if faith became law?
What if the President was a Prophet — and belief was no longer a choice?
These questions became the seed for my new novel, The Wicked Who Fight Against Zion, which comes out Friday, November 28th — Black Friday.
For me, this story started as a whisper. I grew up surrounded by belief, and for a long time, I carried questions that didn’t have easy answers. I watched how faith could inspire good, but also how it could be twisted into a system of control. I wanted to explore what happens when devotion and authority collide — when a nation confuses obedience with salvation.
The Wicked Who Fight Against Zion is set in a near-future America where the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wins the presidency. A Prophet-President rules by revelation, faith becomes mandatory, and dissent is a crime.
The story follows a man and his family forced to work off their debt in a government-run apple orchard in Oregon. By day, he labors under the Church-State’s watchful eye. By night, he hides his disbelief.
It’s a story about survival, belief, and the quiet rebellion of holding onto your own truth when the world demands your soul. It’s fiction — but it feels disturbingly close to our times.
Why should you read it? Because it’s not just a story about one man or one system. It’s a reflection of how easily freedom erodes when fear and faith intertwine. It’s about families trying to stay human in inhuman conditions. It’s about the cost of silence, and the courage it takes to resist — even when resistance feels impossible.
If you’ve ever felt at odds with the system that shaped you, or questioned where the line between faith and freedom lies, this book was written for you.
